Fuelo shows fuel prices in Greece and offers tools such as a trip-cost calculator, price alerts, a fuel log, a garage and a station map, with free and paid plans. This page explains what data we handle, why, and how you can control it. It is a plain-language summary, not legal advice.
If you create an account you give us your email address, used to send a secure sign-in link. Optional data you choose to save (price alerts, fuel-log entries, saved cars, saved stations and settings) is stored against your account so it syncs across your devices. You may also optionally add your name, phone number and a home address: the name personalizes emails and receipts, and the address is geocoded (via OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service) to a location so we can suggest nearby prices when your device's own location is unavailable. None of these three fields are required, and none are shown to any other user. If you're on a paid plan and generate a developer API key, we store the key's hash and usage counts, never the key itself in reversible form. If you do not sign in, your alerts and fuel log stay only on your device and are never sent to us.
The map and the “cheapest near you” feature use your device location only when you allow it, and only in your browser to rank nearby stations. Your device location itself is not sent to our servers or stored; a home address you choose to save is handled as described above.
Paid plans are billed through Stripe, our payment processor. We never see or store your card details; Stripe collects and handles them directly, and processes payment via card or Revolut Pay. We store your plan, subscription status and a Stripe customer reference so we can show your billing status and let you manage or cancel it. Stripe keeps its own records of transactions as required by financial and tax regulation, independent of Fuelo.
We use only essential, functional storage: your theme, language and cookie-notice choice, an authentication session when you're signed in, and, when you're signed out, your alerts and fuel log kept on your device rather than our servers. We do not use advertising or analytics/tracking cookies, and we don't sell or share your data with advertisers.
You can optionally enable two-factor authentication (a time-based code from an authenticator app) on top of the sign-in link. The underlying secret is generated and managed by our authentication provider (Supabase Auth); we do not store or see it. Access within our database is restricted per-account by row-level security, so your data is only reachable by your own signed-in session (or, where necessary, by us for support and legal compliance).
If you enable price alerts we send them by email and, if you opt in, by browser push notification. If you're on a paid plan we also send a receipt when you're charged and a reminder a few days before your subscription renews. Sign-in links and these transactional emails are sent through our email provider (Resend); we don't send marketing email unless you separately opt into the weekly digest. You can remove alerts or turn off the digest at any time.
Accounts and saved application data are stored with our database and authentication provider, Supabase. Emails are sent through Resend. Payments are processed by Stripe. The site itself runs on hosting/infrastructure providers (such as Vercel) that see standard web request data (like IP address) needed to serve pages and prevent abuse. These providers process data only on our behalf and as we instruct them, and some may process data outside the EEA under their own appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses).
Regional prices come from the Greek Fuel Price Observatory (ΔΙ.Μ.Ε.Α., fuelprices.gr) and other publicly available bulletins. Station locations and details come from OpenStreetMap, an open, crowd-sourced map database. These are third-party sources; prices are indicative regional averages, not station-specific quotes, and station data quality reflects what's available on OpenStreetMap at the time.
We keep your account and saved data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data is deleted immediately from our live database (see “Your rights and choices” below); it may persist briefly in encrypted backups until those age out on our provider's normal backup rotation. Stripe retains its own transaction records for as long as it's legally required to, independent of your Fuelo account.
Fuelo is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we'll remove it.
You can delete individual alerts, log entries, cars and saved stations at any time from within the app. From your account settings you can download a copy of everything we hold about you, or permanently delete your account and all associated data yourself, which also cancels any active subscription. If you're in the EU/EEA or UK, you also have the right to access, correct, restrict, or object to how we use your data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it; contact us for anything the self-service tools don't cover. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority — in Greece, the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (dpa.gr).
